What are the requirements ? This is the place were your website is located, and were all VideoChatBuilder files will go. VideoChatBuilder has no special requirements for the web server that it will be placed on, that can't be met by any decent web hosting solution. Windows or Linux OS with Php and/or ASP. 2) Flash Media Server or Flash Communication Server

This server takes care of all the video, audio and text data exchanged by the users.

Option1: Buy FCS/FMS hosting from one of the available providers
We recommend using: Influxis (USA, California), MoreMx (Germany) or Uvault (USA, Florida). We have had good experiences with all three of them. The deciding factor must be how close you and your users are to them. If your users are mostly in Europe go with MoreMX, If they are from USA, go with Influxis or Uvault.

Note: If you go with FMS hosting you don't have to move your entire website. The FMS hosting will only take care of sending the video, audio, and text data between the users!

Option 2: Buy your own Flash Media Server 2
You can also buy the Flash Media Server directly from Macromedia and install the software on your own server. We recommend it for websites that already have experience with FCS/FMS hosting. Check out: FMS product page, FMS pricing and editions page, on macromedia.com.

How about the quality of the video and audio?! The Flash Player grabs video from the web camera, encodes it, and sends it to the FCS. You can configure in detail the quality of the video and audio for them: resolution, maximum bandwidth, maximum quality, frames per second, key frames per second and sound rate !
How does VideoChatBuilder work?! How does it sends video and audio?!

VideoChatBuilder consists of a swf file that makes a special connection to the Flash Communication Server. Once the connection is made, video, audio and text can be sent over this connection to the FCS. From there the video, audio and text are sent to whoever 'wants' them. In this case the text is sent to every user in the room, and the video and audio only to those that want to watch it.

The FCS can reside with the Web Server on the same physical server or it can be hosted on a separate server.
Do my users need any special plugin? No, your users do not have to download any special plugin as VideoChatBuilder is based on Flash Player 7 which is installed on over 97% of the computers connected to the Internet. Click here to view the official statistics from Macromedia.
Can I integrate VideoChatBuilder with my users database ? Yes you can, and it is a simple operation. We do provide the PHP code source and DATABASE if you need the registration process
